Test drive ID.3
Read the first-hand experience of our colleague Marvin Schwinn, who was able to test the brand new ID.3.
As a passionate car & motorsport aficionado, I have already had the opportunity to drive & experience various cars with the most varied engine & drive systems. This is why it was all the more exciting for me to drive the first all-electric Volkswagen in the ID. series for an entire weekend.
First impressions – new and yet pleasantly familiar! –
Even if Volkswagen has taken another important step towards the future with the ID.series, it has still managed to ensure that the brand's DNA comes through perfectly. It is immediately obvious that it is a fundamentally different car, but the general values such as reliability, safety and general well-being are still the same.
Comfort & handling:
Even though the test car had the large 20-inch wheels, it always managed to convey calm & comfort with a healthy dose of driving pleasure at the same time. The drive concept with the 150 kW / 204 hp electric motor at the rear wheels develops its full potential particularly in urban traffic. But even on the motorway, the ID.3 impresses with sufficient power.
In terms of day-to-day usability, the main focus of electric cars is, of course, their range. After the weekly shopping and various test drives with friends and family, there was still enough battery capacity left at the end of the day. Recharging at public charging stations or at the own plug worked fine! The amount of space is also exceptionally good for this class of vehicle.
The ID.3 can be described as a modern, reliable and comfortable everyday vehicle which is also fun to drive. Even smaller families or outings with friends will enjoy the spaciousness of the electric Volkswagen, which never feels as if it has any limitations. All that remains to be said is that the ID.3 is extremely impressive and confirms once again that Volkswagen AG is ready for the age of electromobility. I am even more excited about what the future has to offer!
